He Who Finds Me Finds Life

He Who Finds Me Finds Life

Our Savior,  Christ Jesus,  was spoken of  way from the beginning  of time  because He is eternal.     Simply put,  He is God  —  our Creator Redeemer.     Proverbs,  chapter 8 makes reference  to Christ  and poetically describes  how He is  from everlasting.

Proverbs points out that  because Christ is  our Creator,  who knows us inside  and out,  we really do need  to listen to Him.     So,  Proverbs 8:32-34  teaches us,

Now therefore,  O sons,  listen to me,
For blessed are they  who keep my ways.

Heed instruction  and be wise,
And do not  neglect it.

Blessed is the man  who listens  to me,
Watching daily  at my gates,
Waiting  at my doorposts.

We are not just  to  “listen”  to our Creator Redeemer,  we are  to obey Him.     And,  we don’t obey grudgingly,  loving our evil tendencies  —  we obey  because  that obedience  is  “wise”.     God knows  what is good  and right  —  what will make us blessed  and happy  —  not to mention  making everyone around us  blessed  and happy.     God even says  we are  to always be  “watching”  and  “waiting”  for His guidance  and leading.     That’s because we need it  and because it is  so much better  than boldly  going our own  sinful ways  and ending up  in trouble.

Our reward  for being sensibly  and lovingly  “wise”  is awesomely  great  —  it’s eternal life.     Proverbs 8:35-36  gives a promise  and a warning  that we need  to take very seriously,

For  he who finds me  finds life
And obtains favor  from the LORD.

But  he who sins  against me  injures himself;
All those  who hate me  love death.

“Finding”  Jesus  is learning  His word,  and lovingly obeying it  by faith.     It’s seeing  the utter goodness  of God’s love  for us.     But,  those who belligerently stay  in their sins  are defiantly daring God  to judge them eternally.     They will be eternally sorry.

Glad  for God’s promises  of mercy  and forgiveness,  we say,  “Hallelujah!     LORD,  Your patient love  is awesome.”

Love,
Margaret
