You Are Abraham’s Descendants

You Are Abraham’s Descendants

We people come  in all sizes,  shapes,  colors,  and every other variation.     And,  since we are all sinners,  no one is better  than anyone else  in God’s eyes.     God Almighty,  our Creator Redeemer,  loves us all  —  and wants us all  to know that.

Among us,  some are very prideful  and imagine themselves  better than others.     But,  some feel very unloved  as they imagine themselves inferior  to others.     Whatever one imagines,  we need  to know  that according to God’s word,  we are all sinners  in serious need  of forgiveness.     God’s forgiveness  and our faith  in that forgiveness  is what makes us  a child of God  —  worthy of heaven.

The apostle Paul wrote about  how the law  points out all  of our sins  and makes us deserving  of eternal condemnation.     As the law teaches us right  and wrong,  we realize  our utter sinfulness  and need  for a Savior.     God provided that Savior  in Christ Jesus,  so now God  wants us  to put our faith  in Christ’s sacrifice  as the payment  for all our sins.     Therefore,  Paul wrote  in Galatians 3:26-29,

For  you are all sons  of God  through faith  in Christ Jesus.     For all of you  who were baptized  into Christ  have clothed yourselves  with Christ.     There is neither  Jew nor Greek,  there is neither slave nor free man,  there is neither male nor female;  for you are all one  in Christ Jesus.     And if you belong to Christ,  then  you are Abraham’s descendants,  heirs according to promise.

To be one of  “Abraham’s descendants”  is Paul’s way  of saying  that in God’s eyes,  everyone  who has “faith”  in Jesus  gets the same promises  “Abraham”  got.     That promise was  righteousness  through faith  —  and therefore,  eternal life  in God’s house  in heaven.

All God looks at  is our  “faith”.      A true “faith”  in Jesus only  will wipe out reasons  for pride  and feelings  of inferiority  —  and lead us  in living rightly  for Christ.

Accepting God’s word,  we say,  “Hallelujah!     LORD,  thank You  for making us whole  in Christ.”

Love,
Margaret
