I Have Spoken to You

I Have Spoken to You

We don’t know  what will happen  in this world from one day  to the next.     So,  any time we feel intimidated,  it is easy for us  to forget  to trust  in our Lord and Savior.     Jesus doesn’t want us  to be afraid  of the things  that happen  to us,  because they are temporary  —  and we are  in His eternal care  right now.

To build up His disciples’ faith,  Jesus taught them  God’s truths.     That included letting them know  that their lives  would include various trials  that would show them  that God is with us  in every situation  —  thus helping them  to trust  in Jesus  through thick and thin.

The disciples were taught  the importance  of keeping God’s word,  just as it was taught  to them  —  without adding to it or taking away  from it.     That included  honestly loving their fellow Christians,  as brothers and sisters  in Christ.     In all that,  they were told  that the world  would hate them  —  just as it hated Christ.     In spite  of being hated,  they were to continue  in the true faith,  serving God  with their whole lives.

Then,  Jesus said  in John 16:1-4,

These things  I have spoken  to you  so that you may be kept  from stumbling.      They will make you outcasts  from the synagogue,  but an hour is coming  for everyone who kills you  to think  that he is offering service  to God.     These things  they will do  because they have not known the Father  or Me.     But  these things I have spoken  to you,  so that when their hour comes,  you may remember  that I told you  of them.

These words are for all  of Jesus’ followers  down through the ages.     The hatred  of the hateful  should not make us  lose faith  in our Creator Redeemer,  who has proven  His word  to be true  down through the ages.

Jesus wants us  to remember that.     To help us  remember,  we need  to stay close  to God’s word  in the Bible.     No one can stay  in the true faith  by ignoring God’s word.     Jesus  is our strength  and stay.

“Remembering”  what Jesus  has “spoken”  to us  in His word,  we say,  “Hallelujah!     LORD,  thank You  for giving us Your eternal word.”

Love,
Margaret
