I Will

I Will

There are often many reasons  for promising  to do something.     King David  had many reasons  for praising  the LORD.     He lists some of them  in Psalm 145:1-7,

I will  extol You,  my God,  O King,
And I will  bless Your name forever and ever.

Every day  I will  bless You,
And  I will  praise Your name forever  and ever.

Great is the LORD,  and highly  to be praised,
And His greatness  is unsearchable.

One generation  shall praise Your works  to another,
And shall declare  Your mighty acts.

On the glorious splendor  of Your majesty
And  on Your wonderful works,  I will  meditate.

Men shall speak  of the power  of Your awesome acts,
And  I will  tell of Your greatness.

They shall  eagerly utter  the memory  of Your abundant goodness
And will shout joyfully  of Your righteousness.

King David lived  about a thousand years  before Christ  was born  —  and Hebrews 13:8 points out  that  “Jesus Christ  is the same yesterday  and today  and forever”  —  so now,  about two thousand years  after Christ,  we can still be well assured   that God Almighty  has not changed.

We still have  good reason  to “extol” God  —  “bless” His name forever  —  remember to “bless” God “every day”  —  “praise” God  “forever”  —  “meditate”  on His wonderful works and splendor  —  and “tell”  of God’s greatness.

For all the tough times  David went through  in his lifetime,  he does not have any  negative   or doubtful thoughts  about the LORD  and the LORD’s righteousness.     Neither should we.

Thinking  about God’s awesome being  and all the reasons  we should have  for praising Him,  we say,  “Hallelujah!     LORD,  I will praise You  now  and forever.”

Love,
Margaret
