They Do Not Know My Ways

They Do Not Know My Ways

Life can seem  like such a puzzle.     We can know  that God is great  —  that He made all things  —  that He cares for us  —  that He is holy  and righteous  in all ways  —  that there is no other Lord  or God  —  that God knows all  of our thoughts  and deeds  —  and that obeying  His righteous commands  is the right way  for us  to live.

And yet,  so often  when things go wrong  in life,  we are immediately tempted  to doubt God’s love  and care  for us.     We quickly  become complainers  and accuse God  of not loving us.    We are just like the Israelites,  shortly after  God freed them  from 430 years  of slavery  in Egypt  by performing  many wondrous signs.     They even left Egypt  with many riches.

But,  all those truths  were erased  from their minds  when they needed water  in the desert  they were traveling through.     It’s true  that every one of us  would die  without water  in a desert.     But,  even in our great need  we should not accuse God  of any wrongdoing.

We need  to remember  how God has cared for us  in the past  —  and through our Savior, Christ Jesus.     Then,  with faith and trust,  we can  thankfully ask God  to provide  for our needs.     In remembrance  of God’s love, Psalm 95:7-10 tells us,

For He is our God,
And we are the people  of His pasture  and the sheep  of His hand.

Today,  if you would hear  His voice,
Do not harden your hearts,  as at Meribah,
As in the day  of Massah  in the wilderness,
“When your fathers  tested Me,
They tried Methough they had seen  My work.

“For forty years  I loathed  that generation,
And said  they are a people  who err  in their heart,
And they do not know  My ways.

Let us not doubt  and test God’s love  when we are  in a wilderness situation.     God is teaching us  faith,  hope,  and love  —  the lessons vital  to eternal life.

Remembering God’s love,  we say,  “Hallelujah!     LORD,  thank You  for caring  for our needs.”

Love,
Margaret
