You Will Be Free Indeed

In part,  when celebrating  the freedom  that the Declaration  of Independence  and Constitution  give us,  we are celebrating also  the freedom  that the LORD God  has given us.     Through Christ Jesus,  God has given us  freedom from our enslavement  to sin.     When we come  to realize  the full freedom  and forgiveness  we have  in Christ,  we humbly worship  our Creator Redeemer  with very thankful hearts.

But,  there are those  who do not want others  to put their faith  in Christ  and follow  God’s precepts,  which they  are often  at odds with.     Instead,  they want  to dictate  their own precepts  upon all people,  making laws  that are often  in opposition  to God’s teachings  in the Bible.     Examples include  abortion,  gay marriage,  freedom of speech,  freedom of religion,  etc.

With so much worldly influence  from all sorts  of media  these days,  many are confused  about what our freedoms  really include.     Since God’s authority  is far above  man’s opinions,  Jesus tells us  in John 8:31-32,

If you continue  in My word,  then you are truly disciples  of Mine;  and you will know the truth,  and the truth  will make you free.

We need  to let God’s righteousness  lead us  in rightly knowing  what true freedom is  in God’s eyes.     When we learn  from God’s word  in the Bible,  we learn the difference  between good and evil  —  right and wrong.     Our hearts  are cleansed  from evil,  and we want  to follow  God’s righteous ways.

Because God’s freedom  from sin  is a precious gift,  God’s word says things like:

So  if the Son  makes you free,  you will be free indeed.       John 8:36

It was for freedom  that Christ  set us free;  therefore keep standing firm  and do not be subject again  to a yoke  of slavery.       Galatians 5:1

Act as free men,  and do not use your freedom  as a covering  for evil,  but use it  as bondslaves  of God      1 Peter 2:16

Thankful  for freedom  in Christ,  we say,  “Hallelujah!     LORD,  may we always use  our freedom  in Christ  as Your devoted bondslaves.”

Love,
Margaret
