In the Darkness

In the Darkness
God’s word speaks of a “darkness” that many people actually want to live in all the time. They feel justified in the “darkness” of their hatred. 1 John 2:11 says this about it,
But the one who hates his brother is in the darkness and walks in the darkness, and does not know where he is going because the darkness has blinded his eyes.
The Apostle John also says in, 1 John 2:9
The one who says he is in the Light and yet hates his brother is in the darkness until now.
In other words, one can claim to be a true Christian, but yet is not, because he is absorbed with hatred. To further explain, 1 John 4:8 says,
The one who does not love does not know God, for God is love.
All those who want to be saved by God’s grace in Christ Jesus need to seriously think about this. Because God loves us so dearly and sent Jesus to suffer and die to pay for our sins, we need to recognize the absolute awesomeness of that love. We’ve been loved even when we’ve been acting like ding-a-lings. God still wants to save the likes of us.
If we’ve been walking in the “darkness” of hatred and want to change, listen to the hope given in Isaiah 50:10,
Who is among you that fears the LORD,
That obeys the voice of His servant,
That walks in darkness and has no light?
Let him trust in the name of the LORD and rely on his God.
When we need to change our ways, we must go to the LORD and “trust” in His “name” — in all that He is. We are living in a world of “darkness” — people everywhere promoting sin and hatred. For the sake of Christ’s love for us, we need to always remember His love and know that we can trust Him to lead us out of our “darkness”.
In the light of God’s love, we are free to say, “Hallelujah! LORD, thank You for loving us.”
Love,
Margaret
