Because of Unbelief

Because of Unbelief

We are all prone  to wondering  about how and when  God will answer our prayers.     Our needs  are always great  because we are just mere creations  of the LORD God Almighty.     God calls Himself our Father  — and we are His children.     He also calls Himself our Shepherd  — and we are His sheep.     In other words,  God knows  we are always  in need  of His care.     He is our Creator  —  and we are His creation.

Because we are a mere creation  and the LORD has proven to us  through history  His faithfulness  and the fulfillment  of His prophecies,  it really does behoove us  to pay close attention  to the facts  of our being.     Just as it is silly  for a small child  to think he can provide for  a household,  it is silly  for us  to think  we have the ability  to take care  of every necessity  in our lives.     We have sicknesses,  disasters,  old age, and all sorts of problems  to deal with.

Hebrews chapter 3  reminds us  of our failings,  and encourages us  to put our faith  in our Lord Jesus Christ.     And,  lest we still remain somewhat  of an independent  smart aleck,  Hebrews  reminds us  of the harsh punishments  the Israelites went through  for their rebellious ways.     Hebrews 3:19  concludes,

So we see  that they were not able  to enter  because of unbelief.

Many Israelites died  in the desert,  without reaching the Promised Land  “because of”  their “unbelief”.     That bit  of history  is a warning  for our tendency  to be unbelieving.

And,  lest we plan  to repent  in the last moments  of our short lives,  Hebrews 12:14-17 reminds us  of how  Esau  could not honestly find repentance  in his heart  “though he sought for it  with tears.”     (Hebrews 12:17)      Because  he was not honestly repentant,  he could not be forgiven.

Repentance is a way  of life  before our LORD and Creator.     It’s a life  of faith,  hope,  and love  that honors God  for His eternal word  and all He has done  for us  in Christ Jesus.

When we abide  in God’s word  and truths,  we will gladly praise Him,  saying,  “Hallelujah!     LORD,  thank You  for keeping us  on the straight and narrow path  of faith,  hope,  and love  in Christ.”

Love,
Margaret
