The Door of My Lips

The Door of My Lips

Psalm 141:3 is a prayer  of David  for sanctification and protection,  where he prays,

Set a guard,  O LORD,  over my mouth;  keep watch  over the door  of my lips.

We all need  to pray David’s prayer  every day.     David wanted God  to help him  watch his mouth  because he lived  with people  who were constantly practicing wickedness.     No matter where we live  in this world,  there will always be someone  either trying  to tempt us  to do wrong  or making fun  of us  and despising us  for living rightly.

We will also have times  of weakness,  when for any number of reasons,  we will blurt out things  that would have been better left unsaid.     It is for all these times  that we need  to humbly ask our Lord  for His help  in leading us  to only say  what is right  and good  in His sight.

For every time  we do put everything  in God’s hands  and He helps us say  what is right,  we can then say,  “Hallelujah!     Our  God loves us  and helps us.”

Love,
Margaret
