A People Who Err in Their Heart

A People Who Err in Their Heart

We see it  in the news every day.     People “err  in their heart”.     They totally ignore  common decency  by not allowing others  to speak,  destroying other people’s property,  screaming slanders,  and beating others up  for no valid reason.     They are being unlawful  in so many ways  —  and are seemingly unable  to realize  that they are exhibiting  bad behavior.

We might rightfully point  to them  and agree that they “err  in their heart”.     They are obviously not able  to speak civilly.     But, why?     God’s word shows us  that they are denying God’s love  and authority  in our lives.

Psalm 95 begins  by praising the LORD joyfully,  because He is so great and awesome.     Everyone can see God’s power in all of creation  and in His saving love.     Nevertheless,  with their every problem  in life,  some people immediately deny God’s love,  power,  and authority  over our being.     Their denial  of God’s love  is a most awful sin,  so God says  in Psalm 95:10,

They are  a people  who err  in their heart,
And  they do not know  My ways.

We might not act  in the extreme  as those people do,  but,  we might still be  “a people  who err  in their heart”.     People can “err”  very quietly  by just not trusting  in the LORD  as they face  their troubles  in life.     Remembering all the obvious evidence  of God’s power  and love  in creation  and in the history  of the Bible  is vital  in strengthening our faith  and hope  in the LORD.

God allows us  to face  all sorts  of trials,  but He remains  by our side  through it all.     As we keep on looking  to Him,  He strengthens us,  and gives us the peace  of knowing  we are  in His ever loving hands.

Let us examine our hearts  to see  if we are erring,  and turn our hearts  to keep remembering God’s love  in Christ Jesus.     God kept the promise  of a Savior  over thousands  of years.     We can trust Him  during our short lifetime.

Trusting God’s proven love,  we say,  “Hallelujah!     LORD,  thank You  for carrying us through  our hard times.”

Love,
Margaret
