To Whom Will You Liken Me?

To Whom Will You Liken Me?

All around us is evidence  of God.      But,  there are no words  to rightly describe all  that He has done.     We can oooh and aaaah  over all the wonders  of His creation,  and yet,  never really be able  to fully describe  the wonder we feel  in our heart,  over the absolute perfection  and wonderment  of it all.

We can think  about the history  of all the world,  and marvel at how God chose Abraham  to be the father  of the nation of Israel,  which would eventually give birth  to our Savior.     All that was planned  and foretold.     The power behind the whole story  of our salvation  —  from the Garden of Eden  —  to the Savior’s arrival,  suffering,  death,  and resurrection  —  to the spread of Christianity  —  to the coming of Judgment Day  —  to eternal life  with our Lord  —  all that power  just cannot be described  with mere words.

We think about all the gods  that have come  and gone  through the ages.     People sacrificed people  and even their children  for the sake  of an idol  that could not move,  speak,  hear,  or feel.     People have lived  in fear  and superstition  since the beginning  and even today.

In the midst  of all that  is the LORD God Almighty  in all His truth.     His word is proven  to be true  through many fulfilled prophecies.     His love  and righteousness  is more pure  than any people have imagined  for the gods they created  for themselves.

And the LORD is so different  from all the other gods.     The LORD gives us salvation  from all our sins  when we trust Him  and believe  in Jesus  as our Savior.     Who would ever have thought of it!      Yes,  our God is different  from all the other gods  in the world.

And the LORD pointed that out  to the Israelites.      When they were all mixed up  in their faith  in the LORD  —  their idols  —  their riches  —  and trying to trust themselves  more than God,  the Lord pointed out  the differences  between Him  and all their idols.

Then God said  in Isaiah 40:25,

“To whom then  will you  liken Me  that I  should be  his equal?”

As we get entangled  in all our worries,  riches,  health problems,  and job problems,  we need to ask ourselves,  “To whom  could I ever  liken the LORD,  to think  that anything could be  His equal,  or to think that there is any problem too great for Him?”

Nothing can compare  to the LORD  and all the love  He has for us.     Everything the LORD is  gives us good reason  to say, “Hallelujah!      The LORD is  Lord over all  and He alone is our God.”

Love,
Margaret
