His Lovingkindness Is Everlasting
Psalm 106:1
Praise the LORD!
Oh give thanks to the LORD, for He is good;
For His lovingkindness is everlasting.
It seems like in our everyday talking we don’t use the word “lovingkindness” very much — if at all. But, “lovingkindness” has a lot of meaning and can be applied to each day we are allowed to live on this earth.
The way this word is used in the Hebrew language, it includes the concepts of: mercy, kindness, goodness, favor, pity, and a zeal towards anyone.
Bible verses using this word are saying that God is zealously merciful towards us. The Lord is zealously kind, good, and favorable towards every one of us. And, God has a heart filled with loving pity for us as He sees us entrapped by sin all around us.
In other words, God loves us to pieces, and is constantly doing things to help us out. But, our problem is that we take all that for granted. Some are even arrogant enough to feel that God’s lovingkindness is their due. They think they deserve every blessing they get here on earth and wonder why they don’t get more. They complain and grumble in every situation — never once giving thanks for the blessings they do have.
Oh, that is so wrong. We need to be looking at all the ways that God blesses us from day to day. Everything from the air we breathe to the food we eat and the strength we receive to overcome problems — all this and more is good reason for thanking and praising our LORD.
Every time we are tempted to complain and grumble, let us remember our blessings and where they come from. Even in our deepest pains, God is zealously loving us and mercifully leading us to the life everlasting. His ways are always good and right.
As we remember to praise the LORD and give thanks for all that He does, we say, “Hallelujah! Lord, thank You for knowing the depths of our real needs as You lead us in a stronger faith, hope and love. Truly, Your lovingkindness towards us is everlasting.”
Love,
Margaret
