Who Is the One Who Overcomes?

Who Is the One Who Overcomes?

We all want  to be a winner.     Nobody wants  to lose  all their treasures  or life.     We feel violated  if someone steals  from us.     In order to be a winner,  we need a strategy  to overcome  all obstacles  and challenges.     And,  we need  to hold  onto every asset  we’ve got.

1 John 5:4-5 tells us how  we can overcome  all obstacles  and be a winner.     Here is the only strategy  that will definitely work  for everyone  who has it.     John says,

For whatever is born  of God  overcomes the world,  and this is the victory  that has overcome  the world — our faith.     And who is the one  who overcomes the world,   but he who believes  that Jesus is  the Son of God?

Then verses 11 and 12 put it  in a nutshell  by saying,

And the witness is this,  that God has given us  eternal life,  and this life is  in His Son.

He who has the Son  has the life;  he who does not  have the Son of God  does not have the life.

It is by faith alone  that God gives us  eternal life.     We are not  to get duped into thinking  we must “earn” eternal life.     It is a gift  from God  when we have faith  in the fact  that Jesus’ death  and resurrection  have paid the total debt  for all our sins.     We’ve got  to trust God  on this  because we’ll never be able  to totally figure it out  on our own.     It’s too awesome.

To overcome  every temptation  in this world,  we must have faith  in Jesus.     We will never overcome  this world’s allure  and deceitfulness  all by our weesome.    We must have the Son  in our hearts.     And the Son lives  in our hearts  by faith.

Let us see to it  that we check out all  of Jesus’ credentials  throughout the Bible.     All the prophecies  about Him  came true  in Him,  so we know  He speaks the truth.     Then  as we see how God’s word  and promises  are eternal,  let us confess our sins  and ask Jesus  to forgive them all.     He’ll be glad you came  to Him   and will surely forgive all.

Because God is holy,  we are assured  that He will keep His word.     He cannot lie.

As we fellowship  with God  in His word,  we rejoice  and say,  “Hallelujah!     Lord,  Your promises are all  a sure thing.     Thank You  for washing away all  our sins  and giving us the victory  over this world.”

Love,
Margaret
