God Will Soon Crush Satan

God Will Soon Crush Satan

With all the bad influences we face  every day,  it is comforting to know  that Satan  and all evil  will be destroyed some day.     We can read about it  in Romans 16:17-20,  where Paul says,

Now I urge you,  brethren,  keep your eye  on those who cause dissensions  and hindrances  contrary to the teaching  which you learned,  and turn away  from them.

For such men are slaves  not of our Lord Christ  but of their own appetites;  and by their smooth  and flattering speech  they deceive the hearts  of the unsuspecting.

For the report  of your obedience  has reached to all;  therefore  I am rejoicing  over you,  but I want you  to be wise  in what is good, and innocent  in what is evil.     And the God of peace  will soon  crush Satan  under your feet.

God is the God of peace.     He wants us  to have peace  in our hearts  as we trust Him  while facing all sorts  of evil influences every day.     We’re in a daily battle.      God knows exactly  what we are going through  and He allows it  as a means  of causing us  to grow  in a true faith,  hope,  and love.

Faith is not faith  unless it is tested  and found to be true.

In all our testing,  God wants us  to see the difference  between good and evil  —  and be wise enough  to do what is good.     Paul knew exactly  what he was talking about  when he spoke  of those who were “contrary to the teaching  which you learned”.     Everywhere he preached  there was someone  trying to mix in the old laws,  or heathen traditions, or their own personal opinions  to the gospel.

Those people couldn’t have cared less  about what God has said  all through scripture.     All they wanted was  to be a religious leader  with lots of people  looking up to them  as wise,  intelligent,  and knowledgeable  in spiritual matters.     They were eager  to deceive  because they wanted everyone  to center on them,  no matter what it took.

Paul does not want us  to be blind  or uncaring  about false teachings.     Instead he says,  “keep your eye  on those  who cause dissensions  and hindrances.”     In our world today,  we need  to keep our eyes open  to the influences  around us.     We are constantly bombarded  with all sorts of media  and people  who are striving  to leave their mark  in this world.

If we want  to stay close  to our Lord and Savior,  it is vital  that we listen  to what He says  in His word  —  and not just listen  to someone else’s opinion,  man-made traditions,  or philosophizing.     When we are  first and foremost aware  of what God says,  we can be aware  of what others are saying,  but need  to hold God’s truths  and precepts  near and dear  to our hearts,  while  “turning away”  from all false teachings.

As we turn away  from everything contrary,  God will give us  the wonderful peace  and rest  of knowing  we are safe  in His heart.

Then we will say,  “Hallelujah!     Lord,  You have  crushed Satan  in all his deceitful ways.     Thank you  for keeping us safe.”

Love,
Margaret
