How Blessed Is the Man

Psalm 84:12

O LORD of hosts,   
How blessed is the man  who trusts  in Thee!

Although people in this world  often cannot be trusted,  the LORD has proven  that He can always  be trusted.     Because we live  in a world of sin,  daily experiences  with people  have taught us  that we have to be wary  of who we should trust  and who we definitely  should not trust.     We don’t want  to get burned twice.

But,  we carry our wariness way too far  when we wrongly feel  we cannot trust  the LORD God.     God is the One  who is holy.     We are the sinners.     Who are we to not trust  the holy,  Almighty Creator  of all things?    That doesn’t make sense.

Our lives  really get warped  when we trust  in another sinner,  but don’t trust  the LORD of all.     That is why  the psalmist declares  to God,  “How blessed  is the man  who trusts in Thee!”  

• When we trust  in God,  we are saying  that His word  has proven  to be true  since the beginning of time.    Truth is vital  in this life.
• When we trust  in God,  we humbly admit  that His wisdom  in our life’s situation is  so much better  and all-knowing  than our feelings  at that moment.
• When we trust  in God,  we are realizing  that He made us  and absolutely everything else  in all  of creation.
• When we trust  in God,  we are acknowledging  that He sent Jesus  to be our Savior  just as He prophesied  throughout the Old Testament.
• When we trust  in God,  we are believing  all the historical accounts  in the Bible  and rejoice  that even archeological accounts  confirm them
• When we trust  in God,  we are showing our thanks  for all of His care  throughout our lives.
• When we trust  in God,  we are seeing  and acknowledging  His intelligence  in the balance  of all of nature  and the sustaining  of it all.
• When we trust  in God,  we are praising Him  for all  that He is.
• When we trust  in God,  we are accepting  His gift  of salvation  in Jesus Christ.

This list could go  into all sorts  of details  about God’s love,  trustworthiness,  and faithfulness  down through the ages.     The point is  that whoever realizes  all these marvelous things  about God is,   indeed,   a very blessed person.

Such a blessed person  gladly gives praise  where praise is due,  love  where love is due,  obedience  where obedience is due…….

Trust  in the truth  is simply a very blessed thing.

As we put our trust  in the LORD,  we say,  “Hallelujah!     Lord,  You are the living God,  who faithfully cares  for us.     Let us always sing Your praises  and know You  as our Savior  in all circumstances.”
