The Living God

Psalm 84:2

My heart  and my flesh sing  for joy  to the living God.

This psalmist is filled  with absolute joy because  of a wonderful truth.     He is so happy  because he knows  “the living God”.     He is not tied down  to superstitions,  myths,  idols,  money,  influential powers,  or anything else  that will pass away  as this world passes away.

The God of gods,  LORD of lords,  and King of kings is  the “living God”.     He always has been  and He always will be.    He is  from all eternity  and through all eternity.     He has no beginning  and no end.

He is  the one and only  true God.     There is no other  real god.     All the other things  in this world  that try to make out  like a god  —  like a power  that can control our lives  —  are nothing but fakes.     They will all be  totally destroyed  on Judgment Day.

So we, too,  can rejoice  with the psalmist  in “the living God”.     He has proven His faithfulness,  love,  power,  and truthfulness  down through the ages  in His word.

We are not  to let ourselves be fooled  by the imitation “gods”  of this world.     They don’t have  the eternal powers  they claim to have.     All their temporary influences  will soon pass away.     “The living God”  is the eternal power  we can depend on  for our salvation  in this world  of testings  and trials.

And He calls Himself  our heavenly Father.

As we rejoice  in God’s saving love  for us,  we say,  “Hallelujah!     My Savior,  blessed be Your name  because You truly are the faithful,  Almighty LORD  of all.”

Love,
Margaret
