The Testimony
In listening to witnesses during a trial or some other sort of human circumstances, one begins to realize whether or not the truth is being told. Untruthful witnesses will have conflicting statements that show they are trying to cover something up, or don’t know what they are talking about. The truthful witnesses present verifiable facts that match up with all the evidence given. One can trust their “testimony” because it can be shown to be true.
God has shown us that His “testimony” regarding our Savior is true and trustworthy. Ever since the Garden of Eden and over thousands of years, God made many prophecies about the Savior, who would save us from eternal condemnation, by cleansing us of all our sins. All those prophecies came true in Christ Jesus to the smallest details.
So, we can read the Old Testament prophecies — and then read the New Testament to see how they all came true. Because they came true, we can be assured that Jesus is truly “the Son of God” and that faith in Him actually does take away absolutely all of our sins — just as the Bible testifies.
Regarding “testimony”, 1 John 5:9-11 has this to say,
If we receive the testimony of men, the testimony of God is greater; for the testimony of God is this, that He has testified concerning His Son. The one who believes in the Son of God has the testimony in himself; the one who does not believe God has made Him a liar, because he has not believed in the testimony that God has given concerning His Son. And the testimony is this, that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son.
God Almighty, our Creator, has given us irrefutable, historical evidence, that Jesus — and Jesus only — has the power to take away all of our sins and make us worthy of eternal life in heaven. The whole Bible is God’s “testimony” and proven evidence. It is backed up by other historical records that have been discovered by archeologists, as they keep on digging up various historical sites.
It’s only sensible to believe the verifiable “testimony” found in the Bible. These days, there are all sorts of books that try to take away from the truths in the Bible — or add their own imaginations to the Bible, thus twisting God’s word into a lie. It is vitally important to stick to God’s word — His “testimony”, so that we can know the joy of God’s love and faithfulness to us over the years.
Ever so glad to know God’s powerful love for us, we say, “Hallelujah! LORD, thank You for giving us Your eternal ‘testimony’ of life in Christ Jesus.”
Love,
Margaret
