How Precious Also Are Thy Thoughts to Me

When worldly people are knowingly doing something wrong,  they want  to hide it.     They don’t want anyone  to know  what they are up to  and will sneakily look  for an opportunity  to carry out their plan  so as to never get caught.     They don’t want anyone  to know  what they have  in mind.

God’s children are so different.     They are glad and comforted  that God knows  our every thought.     God cares so deeply  for us  that He is always  lovingly tending  to our ways.     It is because  our heavenly Father stays so close  to us  that we can rest assured  that He will lead us  in the right way,  because He already knows everything  we are thinking.

Realizing that God is listening  to our every thought  gives joy  because we know  we are chosen  to be His dear children.     We know  that because God tends  to us so closely,  He will make sure  that our salvation  is secure.     We can trust  that God’s nearness  will give us the strength we need  moment by moment  to live  in a way  that pleases Him.

Having God so near  is wondrous  as He speaks  to our conscience  to remind us  of His given word.     God knows our every move  and reasoning  and desire.     He even knew us  before we were born.     All this is why  King David sang  in Psalm 139:17,

How precious also  are Thy thoughts  to me,  O God!
How vast  is the sum  of them!

David was a sinner,  just like everyone else.     And he was awe-struck  by how deeply God cared  for a sinner,  like him.     David realized  that God knew more about him  than he knew  about himself.     That is why David saw  God’s loving knowledge  as very precious.     And that is why  David exclaimed,  “How vast  is the sum  of them!”     We cannot begin  to imagine  all that God knows  about us.

Love cares  about our every thought  and feeling.

The worldly people  who try to claim  God does not pay any attention  to us  are foolish  in their imaginations.     They cannot hide  a single thought  of theirs.    And,  they will be judged  for such arrogance  because God has already proven  through all the history and prophecy presented  in the Bible  that He alone  has the power  to know us  inside and out — and He alone  has the power  to make His word  come true.

It is God Almighty,  our Creator,  Redeemer,  Judge  and King  who cares so much  for us  that He tends  to our every thought.     What an honor and blessing  for each and every one  of us!     As unimportant as we feel  in the whole scheme of things,  God cares about us  to lead us  in all His ways.

Resting in our Lord’s tender care,  we say,  “Hallelujah!     My heavenly Father,  I love You  for loving me.     Always stay near  and continually lead me  in the everlasting way.”

Love,
Margaret
