The god of This World Has Blinded the Minds

The god of This World Has Blinded the Minds

As we observe all  of the corruption  in this world,  we wonder how people can have  such evil inclinations.     In the political realm,  corrupt people are trying  to change our Constitution  in an effort to make us  more socialistic  and dependent  upon a larger government control   in our lives.     In the economic realm,  greed and avarice abound  as they manipulate the markets  and ethics  to become richer  and to bind others  into their service.     In the educational field,  they promote a godless society  that condones sexual experimentation,  abortion,  and anarchy  under pretentious reasonings,  etc.

The question is “Why?”     Why do they vie  for control  over money,  people,  and souls?     Why do they deny  God Almighty’s authority?     Paul gives a clue  in 2 Corinthians 4:3-4,

And even if our gospel  is veiled,  it is veiled  to those who are perishing,  in whose case  the god  of this world has blinded the minds  of the unbelieving,  that they might not see the light  of the gospel  of the glory of Christ,  who is the image of God.

The  “god of this world”  is none other than Satan.     He has dangled  the carrot of sin  in front of their faces,  so that they can think of nothing but  their own desires  and greeds.     They blindly follow  the devil’s  urgings  without even caring  about how many other people  they will hurt  or destroy.     And,   lest we enjoy pointing a finger  at their blindness  in following Satan,  Paul aptly reminds us  in Ephesians 2:1-2,

And you were dead  in your trespasses  and sins,  in which you formerly walked  according to the course  of this world,  according to the prince  of the power  of the air,  of the spirit  that is now working  in the sons of disobedience.

We are all prone  to becoming blind spiritually.     We all need  to keep watch  over our own ways.     It is because we know  how very easy it is  for us to be blinded  to our own sinful natures  that we should have a heart  for the eternal welfare  of those around us.     Acts 26:18  quotes the Lord speaking  to Paul  and saying  that Paul’s  job  was to:

To open their eyes  so that they may turn  from darkness  to light  and from the dominion  of Satan  to God,  in order  that they may receive forgiveness  of sins  and an inheritance  among those who have been sanctified  by faith  in Me.

And,  that is our job, too,  because in Matthew 5:14  Jesus says,  “You are the light  of the world.”     We are not  to be a darkness  and a stumbling block  to the people around us.     Each one of us  is responsible  for being a true witness  to those around us.     But,  if we hide our light,  we lack all semblance  of love.     If we know  the love  of Christ  for all people,  we should want   to share that love.     We need to constantly remember  Ephesians 5:8,  where Paul says,

For you were  formerly  darkness,  but now  you are light  in the Lord;  walk as children  of light.

Let us learn more and more  about the light  that God gives us  in Jesus Christ,  so that  that light  can better lead us  through this dark world  and we can have the peace,  joy,  and freedom  of walking with God  and being a true light  to those around us.

Thinking about what we have been saved from,  we have grateful  and thankful hearts  that praise the Lord  for loving us so dearly.     And, we say,  “Hallelujah!     My God,  You are good  in everything You do.     Thank You  for Your goodness  and mercy.     Make me  to be a true light  in this world  for You.”
