God Abides in Him

God Abides in Him
Sometimes, when we’re going through hard times, we wonder whether or not God is really with us. It just feels like God has left us, as we look for relief and do not receive it. The apostle John wants to comfort all of God’s children and assure them of God’s presence. He says in 1 John 4:15,
Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God.
So, when we feel alone in all our troubles, we need to ask ourselves, “Do I believe that Jesus is the Son of God? Do I believe that Jesus suffered and died on the cross to pay for the sins of the world? Do I believe that Jesus rose from the dead as so many witnesses testified and even died for, refusing to deny that truth?”
When we believe Jesus is the Son of God, it is most certain that God abides in us. And, not only that, it is our assurance that we abide in God. God is within us to help us. We surely do feel challenged — and we certainly do acknowledge our weaknesses — but, we can be strengthened, knowing that God is working and living in us. He is working all things for our good.
Knowing that, we can be confident that God will strengthen us each step of our way as we strive to live for Him. We can rejoice in Hebrews 13:5, where Jesus says,
I will never desert you, nor will I ever forsake you.
We belong to God and He belongs to us. So great is His love and faithfulness towards us.
Keeping our eyes on Jesus, our Lord and Savior, we say, “Hallelujah! My Lord, You are awesome as You test us, strengthen us, and keep us in Your protective care. Thank You for Your loving faithfulness.”
Love,
Margaret
