I Will Hear from Heaven

October 1, 2018

I Will Hear from Heaven

When King Solomon built the Temple  for the LORD,  it was dedicated  with music,  praise,  sacrifices,  feasting,  and prayers.    That night the LORD appeared  to Solomon  and said in part  in 2 Chronicles 7:12-14,

I have heard your prayer,  and have chosen this place  for Myself  as a house of sacrifice.     If I shut up the heavens  so that there is no rain,  or if I command the locust  to devour the land,  or if I send pestilence  among My people,  and My people  who are called by My name  humble themselves  and pray,  and seek My face  and turn from their wicked ways,  then  I will hear from heaven,  will forgive their sin,  and will heal their land…

This land of ours,  this “America, the Beautiful”,  needs healing.     People have always been sinful  since the fall  in the Garden of Eden,  but,  this country as a whole  is becoming more and more corrupt  and distanced  from what it was  when first founded.     It was founded on Judeo-Christian principles  that are now being declared out-dated,  prejudiced,  and inappropriate  for today’s “evolved”  standards  of ethics.

Judges are letting criminals go free  to commit more crimes — political leaders are involved  in all sorts of corruption — political correctness is extreme  to the point  of being evil — human lives are abused — liberal churches are proliferating because they refuse  to offend anyone  by preaching about sin — the list could go on and on.

God told King Solomon  about some of the disasters He would send  upon Israel  when they became wicked  in their ways.     But,  much more importantly,  God emphasizes His compassionate readiness  and willingness  to forgive and heal the land  that seeks the Lord  and turns  from their wicked ways.

That is what all the world needs  to realize today.     Yes,  we have all sinned.     Yes,  we all need  to repent and turn  from our wickedness.     Yes,  we all need  to look to God  for forgiveness  and healing.     God has promised  to hear our prayers.     We need  to pray  that God would shed His grace  upon this country.

“America, the Beautiful”   by Katharine Lee Bates – 1913

O beautiful  for spacious skies,
For amber waves  of grain,
For purple mountain majesties
Above the fruited plain!
America!    America!    God shed His grace on thee.
And crown thy good  with brotherhood
From sea to shining sea!

O beautiful  for pilgrim feet,
Whose stern impassion’d stress
A thoroughfare  for freedom beat
Across the wilderness!
America!    America!    God mend thine ev’ry flaw,
Confirm thy soul  in self-control,
Thy liberty  in law!

O beautiful  for heroes proved  in liberating strife,
Who more than self  their country loved,
And mercy  more than life!
America!    America!    May God thy gold refine
Till all success  be nobleness,
And ev’ry gain divine!

O beautiful  for patriot dream
That sees beyond the years
Thine alabaster cities gleam,
Undimmed by human tears!
America!    America!   God shed His grace  on thee,
And crown thy good  with brotherhood
From sea to shining sea!

When we line up our hopes  and dreams  with the love,  mercy,  and forgiveness  we have  in Jesus Christ,  God will hear our prayers  and lead us  in His ways.     Then we say,  “Hallelujah!      My LORD,  all Your ways are  in love,  goodness,  righteousness,  and a wisdom  far beyond our capabilities.     Let us always entrust our lives  to You  and Your grace towards us.”
