Before You Ask Him

Before You Ask Him
God knows our thoughts and feelings before we can even say a word about them. No one knows us as intimately as the LORD God — and no one loves us so sincerely and faithfully. It is because He cares that He pays such close attention to us.
So many people feel that God does not care about them because they claim He has not answered their prayers. Because they imagine that they need to go through certain rituals to make God hear them, they have come up with prayer wheels, all sorts of chants, and all kinds of meditation techniques.
All of that is a gross denial of God’s almighty power to know our every thought — and a denial of God’s love for us. Therefore, Jesus needed to teach the people about prayer and said in Matthew 6:7-8,
And when you are praying, do not use meaningless repetition, as the Gentiles do, for they suppose that they will be heard for their many words.
Therefore do not be like them; for your Father knows what you need before you ask Him.
The LORD God Almighty is not an idol god of man’s imaginations. He is not made up by anyone. God is the Creator of all things and its Sustainer. Nothing can continue to exist without the power of the Lord sustaining it moment by moment.
God, our heavenly Father, wants us to approach Him respectfully and trust Him for our daily needs — always remembering to give thanks for everything. Realizing that God is our heavenly Father, should lead us to trust His love and wisdom regarding our desires. We may not understand why God leads in certain ways, but we surely can trust that He knows what He is doing and has the power to do all things for our eternal benefit.
So, we may be facing terrible and seemingly endless trials, and it may seem like God is not answering our desires, but actually God is answering us and we just need to continue to trust and obey, with loving and thankful hearts. The Almighty, Eternal One knows what He is doing, and He is doing all in love for us.
We learn from Paul in Romans 8:26-28,
The Spirit also helps our weakness; for we do not know how to pray as we should, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words; and He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He intercedes for the saints according to the will of God.
And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.
Let us continue to trust God’s love and power on our behalf. His will will bring blessings greater than we are able to imagine. He is our heavenly Father and Savior — our Comforter.
So we say, “Hallelujah! Lord, in my weaknesses, I become fearful — but, in Your love and strength there is peace and joy. Thank you for Your faithful love.”
Love,
Margaret
