A Snare
Proverbs 29:25
The fear of man brings a snare,
But he who trusts in the LORD will be exalted.
In today’s world, political correctness is pushed upon our society violently. People threaten lawsuits for the silliest reasons and make claims that are far beyond the truth. Such far-fetched political correctness has instilled fear in many people.
When no wrong was intended, an accuser hatefully claims all sorts of prejudice and discrimination. When a Christian lives according to God’s word, claims of discrimination are made.
When Proverbs says “The fear of man brings a snare,” we can think of all sorts of instances, when fear has led people away from God’s truths. Instead of standing up for the right to life, marriage and the family unit as God set it up, the truths of creation, the message of salvation in Jesus Christ alone, and many other such issues, Christians often remain silent because of their fears. God does not want us to remain silent about any of His truths.
God’s word is an open book intended to lead everyone in this sinful world to salvation. Therefore, the truths of God are to be lived by every believer without fear — even in the midst of this very sinful world. Instead of being afraid of another person’s opinion, we are to trust in the LORD and faithfully live according to God’s word.
We know God is the final Judge over everyone, so it should be obvious that obeying His word is of much greater importance than fearing the world’s desires to mold us into their puppets. God has promised to exalt everyone who obeys the truth by trusting the LORD. That promise holds more joy than anything we can imagine on this earth. It pays to be strong in the truth.
We will never be sorry for living in God’s truths — but, we will have many sorrows, if we let the world influence our good judgment with its threats and belligerent attitudes.
Living in God’s truths we have peace and say, “Hallelujah! LORD, Your ways are so good and right, pure and holy. They bring joy to everyone.”
Love,
Margaret
