The Living God

October 28, 2018

The Living God

Psalm 84:2

My heart  and my flesh sing  for joy  to the living God.

In every religion people sing  to their god,  which could be an idol,  a mythological character,  or a traditional character.     Whatever they have chosen  to worship,  the fact is  that their god is not  the true God.     Their god is not alive,  or powerful,  or the creator  of anything.     It’s just a hunk of wood,  metal,  or some other material.     There is no proof  of their god’s ability  to do anything.

But,  the LORD God Almighty is  “the living God”.     All of the historical records  that show His fulfilled prophecies  are proof  that He alone has the ability  to do everything He says.     That is why it is so good  to read and study the Bible  and history.     We need  to realize  with certainty  that the LORD God,  our Savior and Redeemer,  is not in the same category  of all the other religious beliefs  in this world.

When we consider “the living God”,  we are remembering  that our Lord is  with us right now.      He knows  our every thought and need.     He knows  everything we have done  and intend to do.     As  “the living God”,  we realize  He is ageless,  with no beginning  and no end — the Eternal One.

As  “the living God” ,  we can be assured  He hears our every prayer.     And since He sent Jesus  to suffer and die  for our sins,  as the fulfillment  of many prophecies,  we can be very certain  of His love and care  for us.

All in all,  we should always be filled  with joy,  knowing that “the living God”  keeps His promises  to us.     We can be glad  that this God graciously desires  to give us the gift  of eternal life  through faith  in Jesus Christ.

It’s good  to think of all the blessings  of having  “the living God”  want us  for His own dear children.     Then we say,  “Hallelujah!     Lord,  thank You  for showing Yourself to us  and calling us  Your own dear children.”
