I Will Extol Thee

I Will Extol Thee

To extol is  to raise up  and highly praise.     When we extol,  we want everybody  to see something wondrous  and marvelous.     King David loved  to extol God  for all the blessings he received  from the LORD — like forgiveness,  victory in battle,  safety from enemies,  strength to make it  through the day,  the wonders of all creation,  the happiness and peace  of knowing our Creator — David’s list  of reasons  for extolling God is long.

David starts Psalm 145 with:

I will extol Thee,  my God,  O King;
And I will bless Thy name  forever and ever.
Every day  I will bless Thee.
And I will praise  Thy name  forever and ever.

David is right.     We never should stop extolling the LORD,  our Creator and Redeemer.

If we don’t want  to extol God now,  here on earth,  what do we want to do  after this life?     Do we want  to extol God  in heaven  forever and ever?     What is holding us back  from extolling God  every day now?

Could it be  that we are not grateful  for all the blessings  we receive every day?     May that never be!

Like David,  let us always remember  all the good things  God does for us — even the trials  He takes us through — and let us give thanks  where thanks is due.

Then  in the freedom  of a grateful heart,  we say,  “Hallelujah!    LORD,  every day  You do so many great and wondrous things  to bless our time  on this earth.     All praise,  honor,  and blessing belong  to Your holy name.”

Love,
Margaret
