For Whom We Have Waited

For Whom We Have Waited

Waiting…….   and waiting…….   and waiting  is such a hard thing to do.     We feel helpless  because there is nothing we can do — just wait.     Our anxiety level skyrockets  while we simultaneously endure  the heavy burden  of waiting.     We inwardly groan,  “How much longer, Lord?     When can I have some relief and satisfaction?”

Isaiah expressed how Israel groaned  under the burden  of waiting for their relief  from the LORD.     We have prayers that can seem  to go unanswered.     We pray and hope,  and pray some more,  and yet some more.     We have to wait  because we know God answers His children  as they look to Him  in faith,  hope,  and love.     God’s answer may be surprisingly different  from our expectations,  but it will be in love and wisdom  for our eternal good.    God’s answer will bring us joy.

Because the LORD,  our God, is good and righteous  in all His ways,  we can rejoice  as we faithfully wait  for His answer  to our prayers.     That is why Isaiah 25:9  says,

And it will be said  in that day,
“Behold,  this is our God  for whom we have waited
       that He might save us.
This is the LORD  for whom we have waited;
Let us rejoice  and be glad  in His salvation.”

Yes,  we can be glad  in all our waiting  and hoping.     We can be glad  because God has loved us so dearly  that He sent His only begotten Son  to suffer and die  for our sins.     Because God has so compassionately displayed the greatness  of His love  for us,  we know  we can trust Him  to give us everything we need  for our eternal good.

As we wait,  our eyes are on the love  of our heavenly Father,  from whom all blessings flow — and we say,  “Hallelujah!     My Lord,  blessed be Your love  that has loved us  more than any words can express.     Thank You  for always giving me what is best for my eternal good.”

Love,
Margaret
