The Truth in Love

December 8, 2018

The Truth in Love

If we don’t  face the truth  in the love  of God Almighty,  we are easily tricked  into things  that will greatly harm us.     An example is in Exodus 32:1,

Now when the people saw Moses delayed  to come down  from the mountain,  the people assembled about Aaron,  and said to him,  “Come,  make us a god  who will go before us;  as for this Moses,  the man who brought us up  from the land of Egypt,  we do not know  what has become  of him.”

In this event,  Moses was up  on the mountain  receiving the Ten Commandments.     The Israelites did not remember or face the truth  of all that had recently happened  to them.     They could have remembered the truth  of all the ten plagues they saw God perform  against the Egyptians.     They could have remembered the truth  of how God parted the Red Sea  and let them cross through the sea,  while all of Pharaoh’s army  was drowned.

Because they refused  to remember the truth  and stand up  for the truth,  they were fooled  into forming a mob  demanding  that Aaron make a different  “god”  for them.     Because they would not remain  in the truth,  they allowed themselves  to be dragged around  by lies and suffer the consequences  of those lies.     They did not know how  to wait  for God.

How often we,  too,  just cannot wait  for God  to do things  for us  in righteousness and wisdom.     We want our way — and we want it now — so we cannot rest  in the truth  of matters.     We are so anxious,  we don’t trust God’s love and faithfulness.

All of our inability  to wait  shows us our immaturity  in the Lord.     Sure,  we all know  about God  and we believe  in Him,  but we just wish He would hurry up  and do things  our way  for once.     We’re all  in the same situations  and need  to learn  to grow up  in the truth  about God and His righteous ways.

When our hearts are  in a turmoil  just trying  to wait for God,  we can bring to mind  the following verses:

Ephesians 4:15
But  speaking the truth  in love,  we are  to grow up  in all aspects  into Him,  who is the head,  even Christ.

1 Peter 2:2
Like newborn babes,  long  for the pure milk  of the word,  that by it  you may  grow  in respect  to salvation.

2 Peter 3:15
Grow  in the grace and knowledge  of our Lord  and Savior Jesus Christ.     To Him  be the glory,  both now  and to the day  of eternity.     Amen.

The word of God  (the Bible)  is the truth spoken  to us  in love.     It is pure  and is the only way  we can grow up spiritually  in God’s grace  and knowledge.     God is fully able  to help us  and we need  to stay close to Him  in His word  in the Bible,  so that we are open  to His loving care.

Then we can learn  to wait  for God  to do His thing  for us  in righteousness and wisdom.

Resting  in God’s grace,  we say,  “Hallelujah!     Lord,  You do all things well.     Teach me  to live in Your truth  and wait for You.”
