He Will

He Will…
It’s easy to get to feeling down and that God is ever so far away. People will imagine that God is not listening to their longings and prayers, because the answer they are looking for does not “seem” to be near.
As they feel forlorn, they don’t pray as often or as meaningfully as they used to. They find that they have become too busy to read their Bibles or to meditate on what it says to us.
Now, wait a minute……. It’s people who are leaving God, just because they aren’t trusting God’s timing or answer to their prayers. They will complain that God isn’t listening to them — but actually, they aren’t listening to God or staying close to Him in His word. We get a bit confused and should not blame God for what we are doing to our relationship with Him.
James 4:8 lays it out for us,
Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.
We draw near to God as we spend time with Him in His word. The Bible is God speaking to us personally. Do we give God time to speak to us in His eternal word? Do we really “listen” with our whole heart as we read His word to us? Do we meditate on it and apply it to various aspects of our lives?
Are our “prayers” just a long list of what we want? Do we take time to sincerely thank God for His salvation in Christ Jesus — for all His provisions for our needs — for the wonders of His creation — and His love and faithfulness towards us? There’s a lot we can talk about with the Lord besides gimme, gimme, gimme.
Take time to get a grip on the reality of God’s love and provision for us by settling down and spending time with our Lord in His word and in prayer. Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. He is faithful.
There we will find rest for our souls and say, “Hallelujah! My Lord, You have never left me like I have often left You. Forgive me for straying so much — and thank You for faithfully rescuing me from my waywardness.”
Love,
Margaret
