Therefore Do Not Fear Them

The news media tells us  about various kinds of attacks  on Christianity.     Liberals try  to force doctrinal changes  upon a church body  through our court system,  claiming churches are discriminating  against certain groups.     Blasphemous jokes and lies are made  in an effort  to discredit the Christian faith.     Christians are mocked  about holding onto their beliefs  in celebrating church holidays.

In all this,  the world tries  to make the church cower  into a submission  to their ungodly belief systems.     But,  Jesus does not want us  to be afraid  of the onslaught,  which He said would come.     Jesus has already gone  through the onslaught  of all sorts of evils — to the point  of His suffering and death.     And He has promised  to be with us  as we are to face further attacks — until Judgment Day comes.

Some of what Jesus told us  to expect  is found in Matthew 10:22-26,

And you will be hated by all  on account of My name,  but it is the one  who has endured  to the end  who will be saved…….

A disciple is not  above his teacher,  nor a slave  above his master.     It is enough  for the disciple  that he become  as his teacher,  and the slave  as his master.     If they have called the head  of the house  Beelzebul,  how much more the members  of his household!

Therefore  do not fear them,  for there is nothing covered  that will not be revealed,  and hidden  that will not be known.

We are not to fear these attacks  because God knows  all about them,  and will support our souls  as we stand strong  in the truth.     Jesus does not want us  to expect a royal carpet treatment  from the world  just because He has risen victoriously.     Yes,  Jesus is our victory.     But,  we are expected  to go through the same sort  of hatreds,  lies,  and blasphemies  that our Lord endured.

Many Christians have already suffered  mockery,  imprisonments,  tortures,  and death  on behalf of the truths  of God.     Are we ready and willing  to stand strong  in the truth?     We can be  if we abide  in our Lord.     As Jesus says  in John 15:5,

I am the vine,  you are the branches;  he who abides in Me,  and I in him,  he bears much fruit;  for apart from Me  you can do nothing.

Whatever kind of trouble  we get ourselves in — or whatever comes our way — we need  to totally trust  in God’s truths.     There is no way  we can be fruitful  in this world  without abiding  in Jesus Christ and His redemption.

Always keeping our eyes  on Jesus,  we say,  “Hallelujah!     Lord,  You are our victory  over all evil.     No matter what we have to go through  in this world,  we can only be saved  by Your grace  through faith.     Abide in us,  that we may abide in You.”

Love,
Margaret
