He Will Cover You with His Pinions
It’s so easy for fears and doubts to strike us. We are just people. We have weaknesses and do not know what the future holds. As much as we try to change things to go our way, much of the time we have no control over what happens to us. No control creates fears and all sorts of doubts. We need God’s mercy and protection.
It’s like the account of Jesus and His disciples in a boat, in Matthew 8:24-27,
And behold, there arose a great storm in the sea, so that the boat was covered with the waves; but He Himself was asleep. And they came to Him, and awoke Him, saying, “Save us, Lord; we are perishing!”
And He said to them, “Why are you timid, you men of little faith?” Then He arose, and rebuked the winds and the sea; and it became perfectly calm.
And the men marveled, saying, “What kind of a man is this, that even the winds and the sea obey Him?”
The disciples had no control over the winds — just like we have no control over them. That is God’s domain. What we have no control over, we need to go to our Lord for His protection. Without timidity, trepidation, or fear, we are to go straight to our heavenly Father — in faith — and ask the Almighty, who loves us, for the protection and help we so desperately need.
In the surety of God’s eternal love for all of His children, we can hear His answer to our prayers in Psalm 91:4-6,
He will cover you with His pinions,
And under His wings you may seek refuge;
His faithfulness is a shield and bulwark.
You will not be afraid of the terror by night,
Or of the arrow that flies by day;
Of the pestilence that stalks in darkness,
Or of the destruction that lays waste at noon.
We are God’s children — under His tender care and instruction. Our heavenly Father longs for us to look to Him for all our needs — just as earthly parents love to help their children.
We don’t ever have to doubt or fear that God does not want to help us. He has been waiting for so long for us to learn to lean on Him and His love. Let’s not keep Him waiting any longer.
Under the almighty protection of our heavenly Father, we say, “Hallelujah! My Lord, it is such a relief to have You bring me into the safety of Your loving care. Let me always enjoy being near You.”
Love,
Margaret
