The Sum of Thy Word Is Truth

The Sum of Thy Word Is Truth

People come up  with all sorts of sayings  that they proudly think  are wise.     They profess to know  the way  to success — but they don’t even know  what real success is  in this world.     In all their philosophies and knowledge,  they remain  godless  and totally lost.     Remaining  godless  and totally lost now  will mean  never successfully reaching  our heavenly goal.     That should  make us stop and think  because  eternity never ends,  but sadly,  most people still  blindly tout their so-called wisdom  as bringing success and happiness.

People have pushed worldly “wisdom” ever since the beginning.     Regarding them all,  Paul says  in Romans 1:22,

Professing to be wise,  they became fools.

Fools.     They fool themselves,  in spite of their failures,  fears,  and inner doubts — and, they proudly try  to get others  to foolishly  believe them,  so they can build up  their own ego.     Their words of wisdom  do not have a solid base  because they are all based  on mankind’s pride and struggle  to get to the “top”.

But,  all of mankind  has to face death  and Judgment Day.     That is where we need  to have some wisdom.     Where can we honestly get it?     Psalm 119:160  states,

The sum  of Thy word  is truth,
And every one  of Thy righteous ordinances  is everlasting.

The wisdom we need is  in the sum total  of God’s word — the truth  about our existence and God’s love.     From Genesis through Revelation,  we will find true wisdom.     The Bible is available,  but many never open its pages  to find the truths  they need.     We can be assured  of the wisdom  of the Bible  because of all the prophecies  made in it  that came true  in Jesus Christ.

Are we wise enough  to see the power of God  in keeping His promises  through the ages?     Are we wise enough  to realize that God’s word  is much more authoritative  than any mere man’s word?     Everything God says is important  to our livelihood.

Hold on  to what has proven itself  to be true — the Bible.     Everyone needs  to honestly take a good,  hard look  at the failings  of mankind  and realize mankind’s pitiful weaknesses  and sinful nature.     Then we will see  that we all need  our Lord’s salvation  a whole lot more  than we had previously imagined.     We just can’t afford  to hold mankind’s opinions  as being more important  than God’s.

Let us not be foolish,  but wise,  in what we accept  as wisdom  and truth.     God’s word — the Bible — gives us the everlasting truths  that will truly  help us  in this life.     There,  we can rest  in the truth  and say,  “Hallelujah!     Lord,  Your everlasting word has proven itself  to be true over and over.     Thank You for showing us  throughout  history  that You can be trusted  to keep Your promises  to us.”

Love,
Margaret
