If You Know…

If You Know…

So many  of our actions  are based  on what we know  for sure.     Here we know  that driving on the right side  of the road  is in accordance  with the laws  and will help prevent accidents.     Not wanting  to meet our immediate demise, we drive  on the right side  of the road.

Then  we can ask  what we know  about Jesus.     Do we really know Jesus.     Has our knowledge  about Jesus  affected our lives?     The apostle John tells us  in 1 John 2:29,

If you know that He is righteous,  you know  that every one  also  who practices righteousness  is born of Him.

Most people  (even many unbelievers)  will admit  that Jesus was good and righteous.     Some might not claim  that He saves us  from our sins,  but they will say  that they know  according to history  that Jesus was righteous.

Then they eye His followers.     When they see someone  who is good,  honest,  hard-working,  trustworthy,  kind-hearted,   and living  according to faith,  they will surmise  that that person  “is born of Him” because of his way  of being.

When we know Jesus  as our Lord and Savior,  we let those truths  affect our lives.     Then,  we put off our old,  sinful life styles,  and  put on the new life style  of being  like our Friend and Savior,  Jesus.     Others will see and know  they are seeing   a Christian  —  whether they fully agree  with that Christian,  or not.

As we strive  to imitate our Savior,  we say,  “Hallelujah!     My Lord,  You lived a perfect and sinless life  for me,  that I might be saved eternally.     I want  to be more and more  like You  for Your name’s sake.”

Love,
Margaret
