High as the Heavens Are Above the Earth

High as the Heavens Are Above the Earth

Nobody has seen  any sort of end  of the universe.     They can see many light years away,  and yet,  there is no end  to what there is out there.     Our scientists keep searching,  but no one has found an end  to all of creation.     There is great comfort in this.

In Psalm 103:10-11,  King David sings  of an eternal truth  about the LORD,

He has not dealt  with us  according to our sins,
Nor rewarded us  according to our iniquities.
For high as the heavens are  above the earth,
So great  is His lovingkindness  toward those  who fear Him.

That is an awesome truth.     There is no end  to God’s  “lovingkindness  toward those  who fear Him.”     The word  “fear” is also be rendered  “respect”  and  “honor“.     When we have a reverential respect  for the LORD  and all that He has done for us  in Jesus Christ,  there is no end  of His lovingkindness towards us.

That truth is bigger than anything  we can imagine.     We know  that our sins show  how foul we are.     We are fully aware  of the fact  that it is impossible for us  to totally stop sinning.     No matter how hard we try,  by ourselves,  we will never be perfect.

And then,  there is this truth,  “For high as the heavens are  above the earth,  so great is His lovingkindness  toward those  who fear Him.”

That unfathomable love  of God  has been proven  in Jesus Christ.     We are God’s beloved children  when we turn to Him  in repentance and faith — faith  in the truths proven  throughout His word.     How can we keep  from praising Him?

Considering God’s love  for us,  we say,  “Hallelujah!     Lord, thank You  for condescending  to faithfully love us — even when we have failed  to be faithful  to You.”
