There Will Be None After Me

There Will Be None After Me

God has done so many marvelous things,  we can’t even begin  to count them.     But,  as we study God’s word,  the Bible,  we can get an inkling  about His eternal power — His almighty power.     God’s power is shown  in His ability  to have all  of His promises come true.

Throughout history,  there have been people  of all sorts  who claim to prophesy something.     Once in awhile  they luck out and seem to have some  of their word  sort of come to pass.     But,  most all of the time  their falsehoods  are easily seen.     Although these people claim  to have all sorts  of spiritual power,  they are as nothing  in God’s eyes.

The history  of the nation of Israel  is the proof God shows  to the world  that He alone  has the power  to keep His word.     For that reason  God calls Israel  His “servant”  because they serve the world  as the proof  that only the LORD  is God Almighty,  and that there is no other God.     Our Lord tells Israel  about their purpose  in Isaiah 43:10-11,

“You are My witnesses,”  declares the LORD,
“And My servant  whom I have chosen,
In order that you may know  and believe Me,
And understand  that I am He.
Before Me  there was no God formed,
And there will be none  after Me.
I,  even I,  am the LORD:
And there is no savior  besides Me.”

Then,  through Isaiah,  God made amazing, detailed promises  of what our Savior Jesus  would be like — telling of His suffering,  death,  resurrection,  and kingship.     Israel served as a  “witness”  and  “servant”  to the LORD  by recording all  of God’s prophesies  and keeping them preserved  over the years — and also  by being the people  through whom the Savior  of the world  would be born.     All of what Israel preserved  is our Old Testament today.     From the words recorded there  and the annals  of history,  we have definite proof  that only the LORD has the power  to keep His word  in the minutest detail.

Because all those Old Testament prophecies were fulfilled  in Jesus,  we need  to stop and think.     That very same God who fulfilled all those prophesies,  also said,

“Before Me  there was no God formed,
And there will be none  after Me.”

He has proven His power and truthfulness  in Jesus.     Who are we to claim  there are “other gods”,  who also have “power”,  when we have no proof  of any such thing.     There are a number of religions  that make claims  of a multitude of gods  and that even they,  personally,  will eventually work their way  to godhood  through their own goodness  and self-worth.

The LORD God Almighty says  that simply is not true.     All these “god”  wannabe’s  are living a lie.     There never has been another God  and there never will be.     The fulfilling  of all of the LORD’s prophesies  prove it.

Moses sang  in Psalm 90:2  about the LORD,  saying,  “Even from everlasting  to everlasting,  Thou art God.”     Another psalmist sang  in Psalm 93:2“Thy throne is established  from of old;   Thou art  from everlasting.”     The Bible contains many references  to the truth  that there is only one God  and no other.     To be  “from everlasting  to everlasting” is saying the LORD has no beginning  and no end.     He always has been the one and only God  and always will be  the one and only God.

Since God has proven His truthfulness and trustworthiness  in Jesus Christ,  it only makes sense  to listen up  and look into the matter  for ourselves,  by reading and meditating  on God’s word — the Bible.     That is the only scripture  that has proven itself  to be true.

As we let God open our eyes,  ears,  hearts,  and minds  through His eternal word,  we say,  “Hallelujah!     Lord,  thank You  for preserving Your truths  for us  down through the ages,  so that we may receive forgiveness  and salvation  in our Lord Jesus Christ.”

Love,
Margaret
