For Thy Name’s Sake…

For Thy Name’s Sake…

It’s most likely  that  we always have  a good reason  for doing what we do.     We reason within ourselves  what would be best  in the end  and why.     God does the same  as He deals with us  and our wayward tendencies.     It’s all in love and compassion  that our Lord forgives our sins  and strengthens us  to live closer to Him — and — God remembers  how He has made promises.     He is known  for His faithfulness and holiness,  so He refuses  to break His word to us.      He has a reputation  He wants to keep.

God tells us straight out  that His patience with us is based  on His living up  to His name  as the one and only God, who is faithful,  holy,  truthful,  and our only means  of salvation.     This is often stated  throughout God’s word  in various situations.     Here are just a few  of the references  to God’s faithfulness  for His name’s sake.

Psalm 23:3
He restores my soul;
He guides me in the paths of righteousness
For His name’s sake.

Psalm 25:11
For Thy name’s sake,  O LORD,
Pardon my iniquity,  for it is great.

Psalm 31:3
For Thou art my rock  and my fortress;
For Thy name’s sake  Thou wilt lead me  and guide me.

Psalm 109:21
But Thou,  O GOD, the Lord,  deal kindly with me  for Thy name’s sake;
Because Thy lovingkindness is good,  deliver me.

Isaiah 43:25
I, even I,  am the one who wipes out your transgressions
For My own sake;

And I will not remember your sins.

Isaiah 48:11
For My own sake,  for My own sake,  I will act;
For how can My name be profaned?
And My glory  I will not give to another.

Jeremiah 14:7
Although our iniquities testify against us,
O LORD,  act  for Thy name’s sake!
Truly  our apostasies have been many,
We have sinned against Thee.

Ezekiel 20:22
But I withdrew My hand  and acted  for the sake of My name,
that it should not be profaned  in the sight of the nations
in whose sight  I had brought them out.

Ezekiel 36:22
Thus says the Lord GOD,  “It is not for your sake,  O house of Israel,  that I am about to act,  but for My holy name,  which you have profaned  among the nations  where you went.”

To be faithful  to His promise,  for the love of Jesus Christ,  we are totally forgiven.    We can wholly depend  on the Lord  to forgive all  of our sins.     He has a reputation to keep  that is grounded  on His wondrous holiness.     That is the marvelous beauty  of His dependability.     God keeps His promises.     We can depend on Him  to forgive us  and honestly love us.

We have no reason  to doubt God’s love  for us  in Christ Jesus.     It would be wrong for us  to let ourselves fall victim  to doubts and fears — because God has proven His faithfulness.     Now it’s time for us  to learn  to be faithful and loving  in return.

As we look  to our Lord  in hope and love,  we say,  “Hallelujah!     Abba,  Father,  thank You  for always being true  to Your word — and for never failing  in Your love for me.”
