The One Who Does the Will of God

March 27, 2019

The One Who Does the Will of God

As we look around  at all who are  in this world today,  we see people going  in all directions  with different ideals,  goals,  beliefs,  agendas,  priorities, etc.     It’s very obvious  that many are not headed  in the right direction.     But, they will beg to differ,  claiming that the road they are on  is just as good  as anyone else’s  chosen path  in life.

They might have goals  of becoming rich and famous,  or an important leader  in some area,  but all their goals are self-centered  in the here and now.     The apostle John wants all Christians  to consider a vital truth  expressed throughout the Bible.     In 1 John 2:17,  he wrote,

The world is passing away,  and also its lusts;  but the one who does  the will of God  abides forever.

Whatever we see around us  is passing away.     Everyone’s dreams,  goals,  inventions,  properties,  and everything else  will be gone forever.     “But  the one who does the will  of God  abides forever.”

There is that  exception.     Will we be  in that exception?     Are we resting  in the Lord,  trusting in His ways,  putting our whole faith  in the salvation  of Jesus Christ,  and living according  to His will?     God’s will  is that we live  in a true biblical faith,  hope,  and love.     A faith,  hope,  or love in anything else cannot save us eternally.

Since time is so fleeting  and has a way  of “getting away from us”,  now is a good time  to consider  where our faith,  hope,  and love have been honestly placed.

As we put each day  into God’s hands,  we say,  “Hallelujah!     Lord,  abide in me  that  I may abide  in You forever.”
