His Understanding Is Infinite

March 30, 2019

His Understanding Is Infinite

At any given time,  we can look around us  and see all sorts of things  we don’t really understand.        Sure,  we can have some sort of  basic knowledge,  but our knowledge  doesn’t even begin  to have the depths of wisdom  that God has.    To a point,  we can know  how the leaves  on trees turn color  in the fall — but we have no wisdom  to actually make the process happen  in the way God’s wisdom  makes it happen.     God’s wisdom and understanding  can be seen throughout the universe  in every detail of creation.

We even see God’s understanding  in how He is able  to comfort people  as they face various trials  and strengthen them  to complete their purpose in life.     The writer  of Psalm 147 talks about these sorts of things,  and then,  in verse 5  he says,

Great is our Lord,  and abundant in strength;
His understanding is infinite,
The LORD supports the afflicted;
He brings down the wicked  to the ground.

All these sorts of things happen  because God is with us.     He knows our every thought and feeling,  our troubles and anxieties,  our joys and hopes.     And,  He knows how  to lead us  to eternal life.     All that takes an infinite understanding  of our whole being.     There isn’t anything the LORD doesn’t know  about us.     That is just one small part  of the reason why  we can trust Him.     With His infinite understanding  of our whole nature,  His great love and compassion  for our plight with sin  was compelled  to send us the perfect Savior  from all our sins.

With His full and personal knowledge  of absolutely everyone,  God shows special attention  to those who look to Him  for the help they need.     God is pleased  to help those  who put their faith  in Him.     So,  Psalm 147:11  says,

The LORD favors those  who fear Him,
Those who wait  for His lovingkindness.

Whatever is happening  in our personal lives,  we can be sure  of God’s knowledge  about it.     And,  when we show Him the respect  that is due  to His holy name,  He will show us  the favor we need  to find comfort,  compassion,  forgiveness,  and a hope  for our future.     That is good reason  to praise the LORD  in every situation.     He knows how  to work all things  for our good  in the end.

Therefore,  we say,  “Hallelujah!     Thank You  for caring  about absolutely everything  in our lives,  and for strengthening us  to walk with You all the way.     It is only through Your infinite understanding and love  in Jesus Christ  that we will be able  to live with You  in heaven.”
