He Was There Alone

He Was There Alone

There are times  when we just need  to be alone.     Not away from God — but,  alone with God.

As a true man,  even Jesus needed time alone  with God the Father — a time to pray.     How much more our need  really is.     Do we know it?     Or,  do we just blindly  struggle along  on our own,  trying to prove to ourselves  that we can do things without God?    That never works very well.

After Jesus had fed the 5,000,  He wanted time alone  for prayer.     Matthew 14:23 says,

And after He had sent the multitudes away,  He went up  to the mountain  by Himself  to pray;  and when it was evening,  He was there alone.

We can pray  in the midst  of a crowd of people — in the middle  of a disaster — or at church.     We can pray anywhere and should.     But,  best of all,  we need  to go somewhere  where we can be alone — just with God.

When Jesus was with the 5,000,  He was with people talking  about God  and sharing that special fellowship  that we can have  with like-minded people.     The disciples were there  learning and helping.     All that was good  and necessary.     But,  time alone with God  is still needed.

Let us wisely  take time every day  to get away  from things,  and just be alone  with God  in prayer and meditation  on His word.     It’s a time of renewal — a time we should never miss.

As we meditate  on the marvels shown us  throughout God’s word,  we say,  “Hallelujah!     LORD,  from everlasting to everlasting,  You are Lord and God.     Your name is above all names,  for there is no other God.     Thank You  for giving us Your word.”

Love,
Margaret
