To the Uttermost

To the Uttermost

Things can’t go any further  than the uttermost.     It refers  to reaching the absolute end  of all possibilities,  the most complete wholeness there is.     Nothing excels it.

That’s how completely Christ saves us.     There is  no better salvation,  no better life,  no better eternity,  no better forgiveness,  no better cleansing.     Having faith  in what God has done for us  in Jesus,  saves us  “to the uttermost.”     In the King James,  Hebrews 7:25  says,

Wherefore  He is able also  to save them  to the uttermost that come unto God  by Him,  seeing He ever liveth  to make intercession  for them.

It can’t get any better.     We can’t ask for more.     And,  all we have to do is believe  and ask.     Because Jesus is God and man,  He lived a holy and perfect life  for us.     Jesus’ holiness and perfection  become ours by faith  in His promises.     That is what washes us so clean  and makes us so perfect  in God’s eyes.

When we admit our sins  and lay them before Jesus,  asking for His forgiveness,  full forgiveness is ours  by faith.     God keeps His promises.

So,  what are we waiting for?     Jesus rose  from the dead  and lives forever and ever.     And,  as He lives,  He is always making intercession for us — us,  who believe.     Jesus points  to His holy blood shed  on that cross  and constantly intercedes  for us, saying,  “Father, forgive them.”

As hard as we may try  to start living rightly  for Christ,  we do still find ourselves sinning.     When we see our sin,  in respect,  faith  and love,  we take it to Jesus  and ask for forgiveness again.     And,  He will again forgive us  because of His sacrifice  on that cross.

No one else can do that  for us.     We can’t merit anything  on our own.     We’ve got to lean  on Jesus only  and let Him make us holy.     Why shoot  for anything less than perfection,  when perfection is what we want  and need?

Let us lay our sins  on Jesus,  so that He may save us  to the uttermost.

Then we say,  “Hallelujah!     My Lord,  it is so good  to be really clean.     Let Your Holy Spirit live  in my heart,  so that I will always remember  to live in You  and lean on You  by faith.”
