The Father Himself Loves You

The Father Himself Loves You

It is a comfort  to know we are loved.     We all need  to know that  and be assured  of that.     Thankfully,  God is totally aware  of our need  to be conscious of His love  for us,  as we face trials and temptations.     During Jesus’ last hours  before His crucifixion,  He knew that the disciples would soon be filled  with all sorts of fears and doubts   about God’s love  as they would see Him crucified.     Ahead of time,  Jesus gave them this assurance  in John 16:27,

The Father Himself  loves youbecause you have loved Me,  and have believed  that I came forth  from the Father.

That’s it.     This is what we need  to know.     The Father loves us dearly  just because  we accept Jesus as our Friend  and believe  that Jesus is the Son of God,  come down to save us  from our sins.     The word  “love”  here is the love  of a cherished friend.     God cherishes us  as His friend  because we cherish Jesus  as our Friend.

When we believe  that Jesus is the promised Messiah,  God counts us  as His friend.     The fact that we believe Jesus is the Savior  is the same as believing  the LORD is God.     It’s equivalent  to believing God is telling the truth.     We are not  like the rest  of the world  that essentially claims  God is a liar  when they refuse  to believe in salvation  through Jesus Christ alone.

This is the comfort we can enjoy  as we face  whatever sorts of trials  are allowed  to come our way.     “The Father Himself loves you.”

Knowing we are loved,  we say,  “Hallelujah!     Lord,  thank You  for loving us  and for washing away all  of our sins.”

Love,
Margaret
