The Heavens Declare His Righteousness

May 17, 2019

The Heavens Declare His Righteousness

Psalm 97:6
The heavens declare  His righteousness,
And  all the peoples  have seen His glory.

How very true.     When we look at all the heavens,  we cannot even imagine their vastness.     We could never reach the end  of it all  in our whole life time.     Way out there are stars and heavenly bodies  consisting of who knows what.     Scientists probe and peer  through gigantic telescopes,  studying and picturing all the marvelous things they bring  into view.     And yet,  what they have seen is not even a drop  in a bucket  of what is out there — and they know it.

Then,  here on this relatively tiny earth are people  who are born,  have sufferings and struggles  of all sorts,  live a relatively short time,  and then we all die  and rot  in the ground.     There isn’t a one of us  who can do anything  about this.     We might strut our stuff  and make a lot of noise — try to gain authority  over other people — get rich and famous — but,  in the end  it doesn’t matter,  because we will die  like everyone else.    All our pomposity vanishes.

Seeing all this happen repeatedly  throughout history  does not deter people  from their determination  to become the one,  who will have successfully figured everything out  and be able to prove,  beyond a doubt,  that all of this creation took place  without a God  of any sort.     They arrogantly push aside the fact  that they can’t even create  one little particle  of dirt.     They just want  to declare  with authority  that there is no God  and that they will never bow down  to any higher being.     By hook or by crook  they want to prove  that all of creation  is just an evolutionary process  that started  with some sort of big bang.

They have the audacity  and imagined intelligence  to set forth all sorts of theories  about creation,  even though they weren’t there.     Man can’t duplicate anything  on the magnitude  of what God has done — or with the intricacy and intelligence — and yet,  he wants  to spout off his pretentious “knowledge”.     It’s nothing but theory  and hot air,  but they vehemently push it  as truth — all because  they don’t want to admit  that there is a God,  who is Almighty  in absolutely every respect.

And yet,  the psalmist truthfully said,  “And all the peoples  have seen  His glory”.     We have all seen.     We really do know  we can’t do anything  like what we see  in the creation around us.     As we view God’s glory  and splendor  in all of creation,  we remember  that this is the God  who sent His only begotten Son  to suffer and die  for our sins — just another miracle  of love  for little ol’ us.

As we bow our heads and hearts  before the Almighty,  we listen  to the psalmist  in Psalm 97:12,

Be glad in the LORD,  you righteous ones;
And give thanks  to His holy name.

We rejoice  in our Creator and Redeemer  and say,  “Hallelujah!     LORD,  we thank You for all the wondrous and beautiful creation  You have made for us,  so that we might have  a tiny glimpse  of Your power and majesty  before we reach our heavenly home.”
