You Save the Humble
It happens over and over. Someone is always being a touch nasty to another. Then the person being picked on asks, “Why are you being that way?” The nasty person just tosses his head and puffs, “Because I’m better than you.”
That’s an arrogantly sick way to think, but there are many who have high opinions of themselves — for no valid reason. The arrogant and haughty have no desire to change. They simply want to think they are better than others. To convince themselves of their self-deception, they will make it a habit to do nasty little things, just to be irritating and try to lord it over others.
But, when all is said and done, the proud person will not be the winner. In Psalm 18:27, King David sings to the LORD,
You save the humble
but bring low those whose eyes are haughty.
There are many verses throughout the Bible that talk about that same truth in different ways. In the end, the humble person will be saved, as they continue to trust in the LORD God. No matter how the world vaunts its self, the humble will not try to be like them. The humble will not put their faith in their own worth, power, or ability to take care of themselves. Instead, the humble will be like King David — trusting in the saving power of God Almighty, through Jesus Christ.
God will be the final Judge of all — and He judges in righteousness, justice, and holiness. The humble don’t have anything to worry about, because they are in God’s care. God is the Almighty — not the arrogantly proud, who will have their time of judgment soon enough.
As we humbly entrust our souls into the hands of our almighty Creator and Redeemer, we say, “Hallelujah! Lord, in love and holiness You allow us to go through various trials, so that You may make that an opportunity to strengthen us in Your truths. Thank You for faithfully keeping us close to Your heart.”
Love,
Margaret
