The Steadfast of Mind

The Steadfast of Mind

When we can’t make up our mind about something  and are in a dither,  our anxiety level keeps rising  and we have no peace.     Indecision even brings physical pain  and sleepless nights.     Happiness flies out the door  as we groan in gloom.     The bigger the stakes,  the greater the anxiety.     We need something  to calm us down  and give us surety.

God is that something.

In Isaiah 26:3-4,  we read,

The steadfast of mind  Thou wilt keep  in perfect peace,
Because  he trusts  in Thee.
Trust in the LORD  forever,
For in GOD the LORD,  we have  an everlasting Rock.

When we stand strong  in the LORD  and trust Him,  He will give us  the peace of mind  we need.     We won’t know all that will happen  in our future,  but when it is in our heavenly Father’s hands,  we know for certain  all things will work out  for our good.     That knowledge brings peace.

We can come  to trust in the LORD  by remembering  all that He has done  in the past.     Remember how He promised a Savior  in the very beginning  and worked all of history  so that His promises came true  in Jesus Christ.     Remember  how He rescued Israel from slavery in Egypt  with many miracles.     Remember  how Jesus performed many well-known miracles  during His ministry  and rose from the dead  after being crucified.     Remember  how Jesus appeared to His followers  in flesh and Spirit  after His resurrection  and taught them the things  they did not understand before.     Remember  how Jesus promised  that He would come again  to judge the world.

Remember,  remember,  remember.     There is so much we should remember  every time Satan tries  to take away our peace,  by taking away our trust  in the LORD.

No matter what Satan tries  to tempt us with,  we can put it all  in the LORD’s hands  and trust Him  to strengthen us  and carry us through  this life’s experiences,  in all their various pains.     When we are  “steadfast of mind”,  we are remembering the truth  of how things really are  in this world.     We remember God’s love  and we remember how God uses our trials and temptations  to strengthen us  in a true faith,  hope,  and love.

As we remember truth,  God strengthens us.     Then, in peace,  we say,  “Hallelujah!     Lord,  You are faithfully by our side  every step of the way.     Help us to remember Your compassion and loving sacrifice  on our behalf,  so that Your eternal love will make us “steadfast of mind”.

Love,
Margaret
