So Are My Ways Higher Than Your Ways

So Are My Ways Higher Than Your Ways

What mankind thinks of  as impossible  is possible with God.     Throughout God’s word,  a couple of truths are emphasized — nothing is impossible  with God — and all things are possible  with God.     There’s no getting around it.

We can see little hints  of that truth  in all of creation.     There can be the tiniest,  little red mite.     Though we can barely see it,  it has legs  with which to move,  a digestive  and circulation system,  a reproductive system,  etc. — all in that itty bitty body.     It’s awesome.     And then,  there are stars and planets  throughout the universe  that are vastly and marvelously different  from our earth and sun.     God’s creative powers came up  with all of this  and more than we even know about.

And then,  there’s God’s power  with our sinful natures.     People will say it’s impossible  for a person  to turn away  from their sinful ways.     They glumly feel  that they cannot change  to become more pleasing  in God’s sight.     But,  God says,  “Try Me!     See what I can do  when you honestly turn  to Me.”     We hear  of this opportunity  in Isaiah 55:6-9,

Seek the LORD  while He may be found;
Call upon Him  while He is near.
Let the wicked  forsake his way,
And the unrighteous man  his thoughts;
And let him return  to the LORD,
And He will  have compassion on him;
And to our God,
For He will  abundantly pardon.
“For My thoughts  are not  your thoughts,
Neither are your ways  My ways,”  declares the LORD.
“For as the heavens are higher  than the earth,
So are My ways higher  than your ways,
And My thoughts  than your thoughts.”

It is totally possible  to be pardoned  for absolutely all  of our sins.     It is not impossible for God  to purposely  really forget about our sins  when He sees us return  to Him  in faith.     People imagine  that God will crush them,  if they dare to go to Him  for forgiveness.     But,  that is not so.     Sinful people act  with that kind of revenge  towards each other,  but not the LORD,  when He sees us forsake our wicked ways  and humbly return to Him  in repentance.

God’s ways are “higher than your ways.”     We can have wicked thoughts  about someone else  who has sinned,  because we have a sinful nature.     But,  God’s holiness is so far above our miserly,  evil ways.     He’s different  from us.    We are so used to people being vindictive and judgmental towards us,  that it is hard  to imagine  that God is not like sinful mankind.     God wants us  to be totally reassured  of His love  for us,  so He tells us,  “My thoughts are not your thoughts,  neither are your ways My ways.”

All of God’s being is on a much higher plane  than we are  and is truly noble  in all of His intentions.     We have a tendency  to imagine  that such purity is not possible — but it is in God.     We cannot fathom the extent  of His love,  but that doesn’t negate His love  for us.     His love is still here,  and it’s real.

For that reason,  we can have hope and  “seek the LORD  while He may be found;  call upon Him  while He is near.”     We don’t have to flounder around  in our lost condition.      When we turn  to God  in repentance,  He will let us find Him.

When we find God,  our Creator and Redeemer,  we say,  “Hallelujah!     Lord,  thank You for making it possible  for me  to turn to You  in all Your holiness,  glory,  and salvation.”
