Before the Angels of God

June 13, 2019

Before the Angels of God

What we say to people counts.     It really matters  what we believe  and we what we say  we believe.     We are going to be held accountable  for what we say  and believe.     Jesus lets us know that  in Luke 12:8-9,

And I say to you,  everyone who confesses Me  before men,  the Son of Man shall confess him also  before the angels of God;  but he who denies Me  before men  shall be denied  before the angels of God.

So,  what we say now  on this earth will affect  what happens to us  in all of eternity.     Thousands of people saw  what Jesus could do  when He performed  all those miracles.     They were not done  in private.     All of the angels are witnesses  to everything Jesus did  and is still doing.     The gospels tell us  how the angels glorified God  and the book of Revelation tells us  how myriads of angels  are praising God  for all that He has done  and is doing right now  for our eternal salvation.

The angels rejoice exceedingly  every time one of us mortals comes  to faith.     Why?     They know we have not seen the LORD  and all His glory  the way they have.     They know we suffer  with all sorts of deceptions,  trials  and tribulations.     They know we are being tested  and refined  for a true faith  that will give us eternal glories.     So,  when we get the picture  of God’s righteousness  and holiness  in all this,  they can’t help but burst out  with joy.     It’s such a marvelous thing.     We’ve discovered the truth  and love it.

It’s no wonder  that the angels can understand the importance  of our confessing Jesus  before men.     They know it means  our eternal life.     And,  they also experience the utter devastation  regarding all those who choose  to deny Jesus  before men.     Our judgment will be just and righteous,  but, we are the ones who chose it.     After all that God continually does for us  to bring us to salvation,  we will have no one but ourselves to blame,  if we still deny Him.

The angels are rooting for us.     Are we listening  to all the witnessing  to the free salvation  that can be ours  in Jesus alone?     The angels will hear  what Jesus has to say about us  in the end.     They are longing for us  to choose to confess Jesus  as our Lord and Savior.

Seeing God’s work of love for us  in Christ,  we say,  “Hallelujah!     Lord,  You have done all things  for our free salvation.     All You want us to do  is believe.     Help us  to graciously accept  Your eternal gift  of love.”
