There Is No Unrighteousness in Him
Stuff happens. We see lost and wicked people everywhere doing every evil imaginable. It’s hard to fathom why they seem to be flourishing all over the place. The psalmist tells us that they will be “destroyed forevermore.” (Psalm 92) God’s children, on the other hand, will live forevermore in “the house of the LORD”. We are a part of God’s family and are under our heavenly Father’s protection, so that whether we live or die, suffer or receive blessings, we are the Lord’s.
No matter what things seem to be like in this world, we are eternally safe in God’s hands. We may be facing all sorts of suffering — but we are still safe in God’s hands. The world might not think so, but they don’t know God or His power. When the worldly people face their troubles, their first thought is that God is unrighteous. They even imagine how they would do a better job in running this world. That is utter foolishness because we are all so obviously sinners without all knowledge.
God’s children realize His holiness and righteousness. Even as they suffer here, they know that God’s love, mercy, and faithfulness are watching over them. That is why the psalmist sings about how they will become strong in the LORD, and “will still yield fruit in old age.” Their trials and sufferings do not blind them to the fact that God is holy now, has always been holy, and will always be holy. God does not sin in what He allows.
Rather, in His almighty power, our Lord knows how to use these trials and temptations to strengthen us in His truths. So, we will always be able to look back on our sufferings and see that God was with us all along — perfecting and strengthening us in His holiness.
When all is said and done, the psalmist is right to declare in Psalm 92:15, that all this is happening,
To declare that the LORD is upright;
He is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in Him.
That is forever true. There never has been any unrighteousness in the LORD and there never will be. We can trust His salvation in Jesus Christ and all of His word to us. It is all true in light of all eternity.
Thinking on God’s holiness, we say, “Hallelujah! Lord, You truly do make us glad with all that You have done. As we think on all Your works throughout life — all the wonders that You perform — we surely do ‘sing for joy at the works of Thy hands.’“
Love,
Margaret
