Those Who Dwell in Thy House

Those Who Dwell in Thy House

There is nothing  that can contain God.      He cannot be confined  to any one place.      And yet,  we read in Psalm 84:4,

How blessed are those  who dwell  in Thy house!
They are ever praising Thee.

How can we dwell  in God’s house  if nothing can contain Him?      Do we even have any idea what it’s like  or how to get there?      Psalm 84:1-2 even says,

How lovely are Thy dwelling places,
O LORD of hosts!
My soul longed and even yearned  for the courts of the LORD.

Here we learn that God’s dwelling places are lovely  and they have “courts of the LORD”.     This can make us wonder,  but we know our imagination falls far short  because it is spiritually discerned.      In John 14:1-6,  we learn more from Jesus  and still hold things  in wonder.      Jesus said,

“Let not your heart be troubled;  believe in God,  believe also in Me.      In My Father’s house are many dwelling places;  if it were not so,  I would have told you;  for I go to prepare a place  for you.      And if I go  and prepare a place for you,  I will come again,  and receive you  to Myself;  that where I am,  there you may be also.      And you know the way  where I am going.”

Thomas said to Him,  “Lord,  we do not know where You are going;  how do we know the way?”

Jesus said to him,  “I am the way,  and the truth,  and the life;  no one comes to the Father,  but through Me.”

We don’t have to be anxious  about what heaven is like.     We know it is beautiful,  lovely beyond compare,  and good — and that there is even room  for someone like us.      There is actually a place prepared  just for us  as individuals.      Our Lord is waiting  for us  to come to Him  and follow Him.     We can’t see Him physically,  but Jesus has told us, “I am the way,  and the truth,  and the life.”      We get to heaven  by following only Jesus.

As we abide  in Jesus,  we will be  in the right way,  knowing the essential truth  of our salvation,  and enabled  to attain eternal life — those lovely dwelling places,  with the courts of the Lord.     There we will reach all that our souls have ever longed for — and there we will be truly praising the Lord.     Then we will see His holiness  and know the fullness of His love.

In the mean time we say,  “Hallelujah!    How blessed are those  who dwell  in Thy house!    They are ever praising Thee.     LORD,  by Your grace,  let us always be praising You,  because that is so right and good.”

Love,
Margaret
