I Will Rejoice Greatly

Many people are often so “down-in-the-mouth” about life in general.      Sure thing — we’ve acquired too much personal debt,  we or loved ones are suffering physically from various health problems,  sin is rampant all over the world,  making life miserable.     We can find tons of reasons  to be glum and downcast.

We are wrong.

Isaiah 61:10 shows us some very important truths  about the reality of things.

I will rejoice greatly in the LORD,
My soul will exult in my God;
For He has clothed me  with garments  of salvation,
He has wrapped me  with a robe  of righteousness.

Here are the reasons why we must rejoice — even though life is tough.     The LORD God Almighty has  “clothed me with garments  of salvation”  and  “wrapped me with a robe  of righteousness”.      Sure,  the world definitely is filled with the effects  of all the sin going on — and it’s hard on us.

But,  there’s a miracle going on  that we need to see  and rejoice in every day.     We are sinners,  just like everyone else.     In spite of our sinful nature  and on-going daily sins,  the LORD of all  declares us totally righteous.      God sees us  as absolutely perfect  in His eyes.      He has adopted us  as sons and daughters,  and made us fit for heaven  through faith in Jesus.

It certainly is  not  because we have  “learned”  to stop sinning.      We haven’t,  and we know it.      But,  it is because God has declared  that all who put their faith  in Jesus Christ are,  thereby,  truly righteous.      We are righteous  because we believe  and trust  our righteous LORD and Savior.

That is something to rejoice over — and we should not dare  to forget it.      It’s the difference  between heaven  and hell.      And we haven’t done a single thing  to make ourselves worthy  of heaven.      We receive righteousness  and a home in heaven  as a free gift from God.

Yes,  we still have to face  all sorts of temptations  and the trials  of this world.      But,  in the middle of these troubles,  we can rejoice,  because in the end  we will receive heaven  as our home.      We can rejoice  because, even though we’re still stuck  in a sinful world,  God looks at our faith  and calls us  His righteous ones.

Our biggest problem in life  has been resolved  through Jesus Christ.      Now we can get on with  the reality  of our lives  here on earth.      It will all be soon past.      Rejoicing,  we say,  “Hallelujah!      LORD,  You have done all things  for us.      Thank You for taking care  of the impossible  for us.”

Love,
Margaret
