Do Not Be Anxious for Tomorrow
We can easily get anxious and overly concerned about all sorts of things. But, all of our worrying has no power to change the situation. Most of our worries are related to what will happen in our future. The future is something we have absolutely no real control over. We can’t change a single thing that “might” happen.
If we spend all of our energies fretting about the future, we won’t have the ability to live well — just for this moment — just for today. Whatever is happening right now in our lives is what we need to face well — with a true faith, hope, and love. If we worry all the time, we aren’t having the faith we need. If we’re always fretting about the future, we’re tearing down our hope in God. And, all this anxiety is an indication that we are not trusting in the love of God for us as we rightly should. When we’re not trusting God’s love for us, we are disabling our ability to love God for all that He has already done for us in Christ Jesus.
We definitely will have to face all sorts of problems every day of our lives on earth. They will be “challenges” to say the least. And, in the heat of the moment, we will wonder how we’ll get through “this one”. But, there is always one factor in every problem that is constant. It never, ever has changed. That factor is that God is still God. And, the God of all loves us. That love has been proven on the cross, once and for all.
In all our stresses, our Lord and Savior wants us to keep His eternal love for us foremost in all of our living. That is why Jesus tells us in Matthew 6:33-34,
Seek first His kingdom and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added to you.
Therefore do not be anxious for tomorrow; for tomorrow will care for itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.
This is not some “pie-in-the-sky” philosophy or wishful thinking. Neither is this a “do-it-yourself” solution. This is God Almighty helping us to get our priorities straight for facing each day in faith, hope, and love.
As we look to our Lord for our daily needs, we say, “Hallelujah! Lord, You provide for every living creature on this earth. Help us to always keep You as ‘Number One’ in all of our living.”
Love,
Margaret
