Higher Than the Heavens

Higher Than the Heavens

We people can disappoint others  and even ourselves.       We’re not perfect  and are incapable  of being perfect  in all our ways.      What is more disappointing  is that there are times  that we don’t even care  that we are so imperfect.      If we take a fancy to changing our mind  about promises made,  we feel that is our prerogative.     Our standards  regarding our personal morals  often are not as high as they should be.      We’re just not always trustworthy and faithful,  even when we might want to be.

God,  our Creator and Redeemer,  is different.      He is holy  in all of His ways  and can be trusted  to keep His word.      Through all the times  that Israel was waiting  for the promised Savior,  God was faithfully working all things  to keep His promises  to the perfection  of every detail.      God’s great power and authority  are shown throughout the Old and New Testaments,  where we can see God’s working of history,  to prove His love and faithfulness  in Jesus Christ.

It’s an awesome story  of a love so true,  that there is nothing  that can be compared to it.      In the meantime,  we haven’t done anything  to be worthy  of this great love and faithfulness,  but God is faithfully loving us anyway.      While we remain wishy-washy with all our doubts,  fears,  and tremblings,  the power of God’s love  is still working  to draw us  into a truer and stronger faith,  hope,  and love.

In thinking about how God is  in holiness,  King David sang  in Psalm 108:4,

For great is Your love,  higher than the heavens;
Your faithfulness reaches  to the skies.

God’s love and faithfulness  is greater  than any other love and faithfulness.       And,  it’s all directed to us.      When we don’t understand the circumstances around us,  we can still be assured  of God’s love for us,  and His faithfulness  in helping us.      God is working things out for us  as we put our trust  in Him.      Knowing this truth  about our LORD,  let us always look to Him  for the help and guidance we need  in making it through this life.

Resting in God’s love,  we say,  “Hallelujah!      LORD,  You make us glad  with all the works of Your hands.      When our hearts are troubled,  save us  and lead us  by Your powerful love  in Jesus Christ.”

Love,
Margaret
